Water Heater Floods Charlotte Home in University Area

Water heaters account for a good amount of our calls for water restoration in Charlotte nationwide this is pretty much the same for water mitigation companies. This is because when a water heater goes bad, they are holding a large amount of water and the way it fails can determine if the water remains inside or creates a disaster with water damage in the surrounding areas of the home. With the risk of water damage in mind a failing water heater is pretty much a guarantee for most homeowners at some point and time and this morning was not any different. Early this morning we received a call from a customer in the university area of Charlotte due to a leaking water heater spraying water into the kitchen causing water damage to the entire first floor of the home. The water heater itself was not in bad shape but the inlet pipe appeared to have rusted before the shutoff valve which meant there was no way to turn the water off to the water heater unless water was turned off at the main. To minimize the amount of water damage we tried to explain to the customer how to turn the water off at the meter before we arrived but rightfully so the customer was hysterical and did not know what to do. When we arrived the first thing, we did was turn off the water to the house and started with water damage cleanup.
