As a water restoration company in Charlotte we frequently see I would share of the strangest and most awkward causes of water damage to a homeowners home. And some of these cases it is something that you would least likely expect to put you into a situation that would require the need for water mitigation services at your home but that is exactly what happened to one of our clients today. We received a call for emergency water mitigation services due to a malfunctioning appliance which is a typical cause for the need water damage cleanup. What made today’s call for water restoration services unique was not the malfunctioning appliance but it is the part of the appliance that malfunctioned that makes it unique for me. After returning from the call I did some research on water damage caused from refrigerator water filters and it is not unheard of but this is actually our first time as a water mitigation company in Charlotte responding to  a water damage call due to a failed water filter in a refrigerator.  The customer stated that he ordered some brand new aftermarket filters from Amazon.com and when he installed the filters it did not appear to be an issue however when he went downstairs later on in the evening to get something out of the fridge raider he realize the entire kitchen was saturated and the living room carpet was also wet and he did not know where it was coming from so while searching around for the cause of the water damage he realize the water was coming from inside of the refrigerator from the water filter area.
